Celebration of the life of Rey Ruiz

Last Friday we had the distinct honor of riding to Riverside to attend the memorial service for USMC veteran and ALR DoC Past President Rey Ruiz. For those that did now know Rey this was a special event for me. Rey was the first person I spoke with when I put out the idea of starting a Redondo Beach chapter. I met Rey at the first meeting where we motioned to start our chapter. He showed up with his wife Ida all the way from Norco to support us. Rey along with Joel Lopez (Area 4 VP) talked to me about the process and what I would need to do in order to get started. Shortly after this meeting Rey fell ill. It was the last time I saw or spoke with him but he left a lasting impression on me. It was an honor for us to be able to ride together and attend his memorial.
